In order to be able to focus on creating more video tutorials and develop more fun and creative products to help you edit those beautiful pictures, I thought doing a few blog posts throughout the week might be a little bit more productive. I think it will help you a lot to have some reference posts that you can go back again and again when you can’t remember on how to do something. Here are some of the questions that I got in the past few weeks.

Question 1
Hello! Thanks so much for all of your tutorials and freebies! You rock! I am pretty sure I saw you post a tutorial on removing dark under eye circles, but your wall is flooded and I can’t seem to find it. Do you post all your tutorials maybe on a blog or another site where I can find them all? Thanks so much!
Yes I there is one video along with many others where I talk about using the Bohemian Symphony Collection as well as other fun little tips about photoshop and photoshop elements. You can find the videos here.

Question 2
Trying to figure out how to load actions into PSE 7. I have windows 7. I have never used actions and I have NO clue how to load them or use them once they are in PSE 7. Thanks for your help in advance! Nichole
Hello Nicole , please refer to the downloads bellow for instructions on how to upload the actions in your computer.

Installing Actions in Photoshop Elements 6
Installing Actions in Photoshop Elements 7 and higher
Installing Actions in photoshop CS4 and CS5

Question 3
What kind of equipement do you use?
Well I am a simple kind of girl. Even though I think the equipment is very important, the person behind the equipment is as importnat. Thus said… I when I first started I had a Nikon D80, sold it and then upgrade it to D300 and now I have the full frame Nikon D700 which I absolutely love. But again the full frame camera will take you so far if you have not nailed down getting a correct exposure and also what settings you need to have to create the pictures you have in mind.

Question 4
What settings do you have on your camera when you photograph children?
The answer to that is: It depends:). It really depends what kind of image I want to create. Do I want to isolate the subject, do I want to tell a story, do I want to show movement in my picture and many, many other things I might want to think about when taking the picture. The best book I have come across that I call my photography Bible is Understanding Exposure. I have read this book at least 6 or 7 times and I can tell you that at first it was all chinese to me and now I can say that it’s plain English.

Question 5
I just downloaded your actions and I have a question:)I have PSE 8 and I dont have a history brush. When I run the action, the skin tone messes up. Is there anything I can do about that? I sooo love your work and wish to be close to where you are someday:)You have the best backgrounds and I live in the desert LOL!:)
You don’t need to have a history brush with the Bohemian Symphony Collection. Here is a video that explains where to find the brush that you need to use in Photoshop Elements 8.

Question 6
What editing programs do you use?
I mainly use Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw. I do have Lightroom too but I don’t use it that much. Light room is very similar to Camera Raw so I just use Camera Raw.

Question 7
Do you actions work for a Mac or PC?
Yes the Bohemian Symphony Collection works for MACs and PCs. You just have to have either photoshop elements 5 or higher or photoshop CS2 or higher.

Question 8
What time do you do most of your shoots?
I specialize in backlit photography. My style is very unique and most of my clients hire me because of my style. Even thought the kids might be more tired in the evening because of my style I prefer to do my session mostly in the evening about 2 hours before the sun sets. That will be later in the day in the summer and earlier in the winter.

Question 9
Do you use any reflectors?
I don’t use any reflectors. It’s just me, my camera and a very wide and open field behind me to act as a reflector on my subjects face and eyes thus creating those beautiful, color cast free skin tones.

Question 10
What lens do you recommend I start with?
The answer is again.. it depends. I started with a 50mm 1.4. I loved it and still love it to this day. I do have an 85mm 1.8 as well as an 24-70mm 2.8. It really depends on your style and on your budget. I would suggest getting prime lens to start with as they are amazingly sharp and fast lenses and it will really help you create beautiful pictures.

Hope this list of questions and answers helped and I will post the new round soon. Remember to dream BIG!!!

Hi! Thanks for the FAQ. I found you on facebook recently and have been inspired ever since. Question (maybe you’ll answer the next FAQ) – where do you find your props? I love your vintage look and bright colors but I could spend hours looking on craig’s list for the “perfect” prop. Thanks!
