Rise & Shine workshop with Rachel Vanoven and Oh So Posh Photography

So crazy…Rachel(Rachel Vanoven)and I have been talking about this workshop for months now, and to finally have it set in stone and planned feels amazing. *a-maz-ing*

I first met Rachel through Facebook a few years back and I fell in love with her newborn pictures and how creative she is with using color and props to create some very unique and timeless pictures. I could spend hours and hours looking at Rachel’s newborn pictures and I am so excited to do this workshop with her. As you can see from our pictures we are both love life, we love capturing life in its purest form. We love colors, textures and most of all smiles:)!!

There are a couple focuses of this weekend workshop:

I will teach how to photograph kids and families using natural light. As you can see in most of my work I specialize in backlit photography and I will go over not only on when and where is the ideal place to photograph your subject to achieve those beautiful golden tones in your pictures but also how to interact with the kids and get those natural smiles. We will go over styling, composition, use of color and post processing and something that you have seen me do over and over again that is not part of a lot of workshops but I so believe in it: THE ART OF LIVING. We are photographers but also we are human beings that will be facing so many challenges and I so love to be able to help you bring a little sunshine and new perspective on how I see life, in your part of the country.

The second part of the workshop will be focusing on newborn photography, taught by the incredible Rachel Vanoven! She’ll be combining her experience with newborns, styling, interaction with parents, posing and post processing into this workshop! We’ll be putting heavy emphasis on safety as well.

The third part of the workshop will be focusing on standing out in the booming field of photography…hence the name “Rise and Shine”. We want to spread the word that this business is NOT about competition with other photographers, but working on *your* craft and *your* style and standing out by letting your images shine. Both Lidia and I are all for helping other photographers really enjoy what they do and succeed.

The Details:

When? April 14th and 15th, 2012

Where? Dallas, TX

How much? $1800 total tuition. Includes both days of workshop, Oh So Posh’s action packs and Rachel’s newborn posing guide. A $500 deposit is due to hold your spot (via PayPal). BOOhemian Halloween Winners

Thank you so much first of all for participating in this fun and creative Boohemian Halloween Contest. We might have started it on Facebook but since the terms of agreement on Facebook don’t allow us to run any kind of these contests, I had to get creative, did a lot of extra work, screen captured each entry (thus the fun pictures with my facebook page in the background:)), and moved the last part of the contest here on my blog!!

I have to say that I love doing a lot of things in this life but being a judge and picking a winner, or two, or three or 8 in my case plus 6 semifinalists, is not something that I am good at. I just love helping people and I want everybody to win. However, I have to work at being able to follow my heart and pick the best of the best of the best entries, the ones that really made me smile.

So how did I chose the finalists?? Well you should see all the folders, subfolders and subfolders in my computer, where I had to eliminate one and then another and then another. That was not easy at all. I chose the finalists based on creativity, humor, hard work and mostly on something that made the image memorable and if I was driving down the road in my car and think about the entries I could picture each one of the winning pictures and have a huge smile on my face:). Thank you so much for participating!!! I really had so much fun going through every single entry!!!

I know a lot of you will be disappointed that you did not win and I am sooo with you!!! I applied many times to different things and I was so heartbroken when I did not win, thinking.. my work is not good enough:(, I will never make it, I am not creative.. and all those thoughts that you just want not to believe but for some reason they are way too strong and they get the best of you!!

Well my friends, here is my approach to how I view life now when I put my heart and soul into something and I don’t win: “Yeap, I did not make it this time, because had I won this time… I might have gotten too confortable with the fact that I won and I might just think that I don’t need to push harder the next time.” I really take it almost like a challenge!!

In addition, one HUGE, HUGE lesson I learn in life is to be happy for the success of ALL THOSE AROUND ME!!!! That might sound crazy but I read a quote that stuck with me saying:

“When you give little or no help to others or put obstacles in their path, the universe- in the form of people and circumstances – gives little or no help to you because you have cut yourself off from the whole…. In order to attract success, you need to welcome it wherever you see it.” ( Awakening to your life’s purpose – Eckhart Tolle)

WOW that is pretty intense but so true!! It’s very hard to be happy for others when you know that you have worked harder, but try it first and it won’t be easy, then the second time it will still not be easy but it will be not so hard either and honestly after a while you will just love to see people succeed up and right:)!!! If they succeed they sure make a difference somewhere in this world. Because of them somebody has a job, somebody can get paid and so on. We are all part of this earth, all trying to make this earth a better place so I always see somebody’s success as making this earth a better place, I am part of this earth thus their success make the place I live, a better place too.

Phew.. that was a long talk:).. Who says that I don’t like to write? (I actually don’t.. it’s so hard for me to express myself.. but I am passionate about helping others so no matter if I make mistakes in my writing or not, I will still continue to help anyway I can).

Here are the 8 finalist that just made my day and will put a smile on my face for many days to come:)!!!! Congratulations everybody!!!! Please email me at bsc.livehappy@gmail.com with the Subject line Boohemian Halloween Winner | Your name | photoshop or elements!! Congratulations again!!!

And to the 6 semifinalists that I loved, loved, loved how creative they were, I am offering 50% off the Bohemian Symphony Collection if you want to email me I will create a 50% off invoice for you!!! Congratulations !!!!

Natalie Blazei - November 2, 2011 - 10:31 pm

What inspirational words! I hoped to win with a picture of my precious baby girl, but alas, I did not. Oh well…maybe next time! Congrats to all the winners!

I have the limited edition (after begging my hubby he finally let me!) and just want you to know how grateful I am for them. They have cut my editing time down so much…now I have so much more time to spend with my daughter! Thank you!

Stacy Wilson - November 3, 2011 - 2:08 am

I loved all of the winners. I wish I had time to do an entry. With a teething 5 month old, a 3 yr old with the flu and an active 5 yr old…it just didn’t happen. Hopefully the next contest! I have to remember the “flo” costume for next year. That was great. I agree with your comments on winning. It is something that is really hard for me especially when I know I worked hard than someone else…but I’m working on it. I just tell myself that maybe they needed it more than I did! Anyway, I just wanted to say THANKS for all you do!
