Home Sweet Home!

LidiaIsadoraI am happy to share some good news… Lidia got to return home today! We are so very glad to see her reunited with Isadora and back in her own bed again! Lidia has really loved looking at the cards she’s received and getting mail really does brighten her day… especially when it’s something cute she can show Isadora:)

We will pick up mail from the hospital if there is any on the way, but going forward we welcome you to share any cards or letters of encouragement to Lidia at this address:

The results of Monday’s CT scan came back inconclusive so we are likely back to preparing for a biopsy. She can’t do anything until she can fight off this stubborn C. Diff infection, though. She is still in a considerable amount of pain and very nauseous. I have to say though for a very sick woman who’s going through so much right now, she’s taking on all of this with incredible strength! She’s remains so positive and sweet and rather funny at times!  That #OhSoPoshSTRONG hashtag is quite fitting I think.

I know she believes in the power of prayer so let’s lift her up… there’s no prayer too small.    ;)

CJ - March 12, 2014 - 11:03 am

Maybe I am the eternal optimist but inconclusive scan gives me hope it’s not cancer. It’s in my prayers. Also praying for Lidia and Isadora to have some great laughs and long lives together as healthy happy people! Stay strong!

kris allbright - March 12, 2014 - 11:41 am

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, Lidia. Sending love to you and Isadora.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Be Strong in the Lord and in the power of his might..
Ephesians 6:10

Praying this for you Lidia.

Melanie & Lidia ~~ I’ve just spent the day reading this amazing Blog for the first time. What an incomparable testament to the human spirit! I wanted to suggest that your docs might try patches for your pain control if they haven’t already. So moved by the love, the thrall of beauty and light in the face of such daunting circumstances. Will be sending love and light your way!

Update from the hospital

afterlightLidia is still in the hospital and just came back from having another CT scan done. The surgeon feels there’s a possibility that this pain in her rib could still be caused from something other than cancer so they wanted to get a better view of that isolated area to get another look. The biopsy is a very invasive procedure that requires them to remove 2-3 inches of her rib and there are a MANY risks involved with the procedure. We want to avoid a biopsy… lets pray that an answer comes through in this CT scan… and that it’s NOT cancer!!!

We want her body to heal enough to get her to the point where she can at least get home to her daughter. She is still struggling with this C. Diff infection while at the same time trying keep the excruciating back pain under control. In order to get her home, the hospital needs to see that the C. Diff is improving, and she has to be able to go a full day relying on only oral pain medication and without getting nauseous (Trying to keep things down has been another huge struggle). She’s also developing a case of thrush in response to the antibiotics so now it’s hard to talk and swallow. We are going to try a new medicine for her C. Diff infection today to see if that helps. If all goes well, we’re hoping she can be released tomorrow.

photoThe good news is that her sister is in town!!! Lidia was so happy to see her! It’s hard enough to go through something like this, but going through it without ANY family here has been really hard for Lidia. Honestly these last few days have just been extremely difficult for her in so many ways. However, this outpour of love from her supporters (old and new) has filled her spirit at the times it was most needed. The #OhSoPoshStrong hashtag campaign on instagram has hit over 1,000 pictures! She can’t believe it and some of the stories and comments that have filled her heart with gratitude and eyes with happy tears.

Isadora is staying SO STRONG.  It’s very clear she is scared and missing her mom’s company, she is so optimistic at heart and continues to melt us all with that smile on her face so much of the time. Yesterday we went to the zoo and she pointed out a log that was shaped like a heart, and another log that to her looked like a dog chasing a rock! So much like her mama how she likes to look a little deeper at things. It’s spring break for Isadora and Lidia is really struggling with not being able to enjoy more time with her. So far Isadora has just been able to be up there for very short periods of time each day. Lets all pray that soon enough they’ll be able to spend a lot of carefree time together finding lots of new shapes in everyday objects  ;)

And a side note for us moms who may be wondering how we’re going to get through a whole week of the kids being out of school wanting constant attention and stuff to do during spring break… let this serve as a reminder to be oh so happy to be able to see our kids faces (no matter how messy) for more than a few minutes a day.

CJ - March 10, 2014 - 1:59 pm

This news made me smile. I was getting worried. But now I am full of hope for her and Isadora. She will thrive and let’s pray for some great answers today!

Chris - March 10, 2014 - 2:19 pm

Thank you Melanie, for the update! I love what you said about Spring Break. I echo those very true words. You are a wonderful friend. Sending lots of love and prayers to all.

Hey there,

Fellow N.Tex photog here.. I live in McKinney and am literally 15 minutes from the hospital. I can help in any way needed, just let me know.

Keeping you all in my thoughts,

Kate - March 10, 2014 - 3:19 pm

Thank you for the sweet update. I’ve been thinking of Lidia and Isadora! Stay strong Lidia and let’s beat this thing!!

Johanna - March 10, 2014 - 3:21 pm

Hello, Lidia. I am glad that Isadora is a joy that can convey, children are the most beautiful and have to fight for it. The main thing is healthy eating (raw), deep breathing, positive attitude. I wish you well, that the study has good news and it’s nothing bad. Greetings from Venezuela. :)

Genevieve Thompson (Jennifer) - March 10, 2014 - 3:21 pm

the other day I posted delay is not denial. I was sharing Lidia’s story and the problems she’s been facing with my husband. He said did it ever occur to you that delay is not denial? I said what do you mean? He said perhaps the reason the Cdiff is still there is because maybe this isn’t cancer and it’s keeping her from having an invasive procedure that she may not need to have. Oh how we are praying that this is NOT cancer and that it would be something small scale and treatable. Regardless we aren’t giving up and we truly believe Lidia will rise up out of that hospital bed and be strengthened and made whole in Jesus Name! Amen ❤️

Agnieszka TN - March 10, 2014 - 3:25 pm

Thank you for the update, Melanie. So good to know that Lidia is surrounded by such sweet friends. I keep Lidia in my thoughts constantly and pray for her recovery. Lots of love from Sweden.

Rachel Kline - March 10, 2014 - 3:25 pm

I have been praying for Lidia and Isadora since I heard this news. My friend has a daughter who battled c. diff multiple times. Probiotics always helped to lessen the effects and fight it. Maybe this is something Lidia can look into.

Marianne - March 10, 2014 - 3:41 pm

You have been on my heart and mind. Praying the doctors can get a clear view from the CT Scan giving them much needed answers to avoid the biopsy. Praying in Oklahoma!

Angie - March 10, 2014 - 3:41 pm

Prayers for answers and a full and speedy recovery. I can’t recommend Gentian Violet enough for thrush, it is amazing and works so much faster than so many other meds we tried. Hope you get some relief soon. Hugs.

Nicole - March 10, 2014 - 7:11 pm

Thanks for the update – saying a prayer each night for Lidia!

Amanda - March 10, 2014 - 8:41 pm

I know this is really weird! I remember reading an article through Yahoo news about a women who had c. diff and what she went through, trying everything and anything. Her last hope was a fecal transplant and it worked.

I did a quick google search and found this article. Of course, everybody is different and doctor’s know best of what a person’s body can tolerate, but I was amazed by this form of treatment. I know someone personally who struggled with c. diff because of needing to take antibiotics due to an infection that settled in scar tissue in her heart and also struggled with bone cancer.

Best of luck, keep thinking those positive thoughts that it is NOT cancer and God will provide!

Sending love and prayers!!

Still waiting for answers…

LidiaSleepUpdate on Lidia. The biopsy hasn’t been schedule yet, so until that is done her current diagnosis as of today is “Cancer until proven otherwise“. The surgeon has some concerns about doing the biopsy right now, partially because of the ongoing C. Diff infection she’s still fighting. However in the meantime she remains in a lot of pain if not well controlled, and today was especially rough as they tried to test the waters to see if she could tolerate a lower dosage of pain medication. The answer to that was a resounding, no. They were able to get the pain back under control again, and when they did Lidia was Oh So Happy. Within minutes of relief she was outside her door sharing her fruit bouquet with the nursing staff.:-DThank you Anna for sending that edible arrangement… Lidia & Isadora both loved it so much! Also Lidia’s room smells so wonderful with the flowers and you can see the color on the window sill just passing by her door… Very Oh So Posh!  :)

Lidia2Please pray for Lidia as she sorts through all the options to determine the next step to take from here. Isadora is coming by every day to see her mama, and definitely keeps a smile on her face the entire time. Lidia is always sharing stories and photos of Isadora with the nurses. After chatting with some of the nurses today I realized she hadn’t said anything to them about her business or non-profit organization… It’s a true reflection of where Lidia’s heart is at the moment… first and foremost with her little girl. She keeps showing photos of her blue-eyed sweet-pea and saying “THIS is why I need to get better”. I know Lidia’s love for Isadora and God’s love for both of them is greater than whatever is inside her body right now, so that is definitely a huge source of HOPE for the days to come.

The #OhSoPoshStrong instagram hashtag campaign has grown to over 800! I’m so hoping we can hit 1,000:)

One of the nurses today commented on how Lidia had such a big and beautiful presence about her that she knew she must have been someone really special. Boy was she right  :)

Pam - March 8, 2014 - 7:19 am

Genevieve Thompson - March 8, 2014 - 11:10 am

Many, many prayers are going up to heaven, and we are saying plenty in Ohio for precious Lidia and Isadora. It seems like an uphill battle, but I believe you will WIN this war Lidia. I know it may look hopeless at times, I too understand the anxiety, the questions that go through your mind about what will I do IF? IF this? IF that? Trust Him, He sees the big picture. I had such a hard time when I fought through my own battle and asked God a million questions. I too wondered Why me? But I had to finally settle my own heart and realize this affliction was not from Him. This wasn’t His fate for me, He doesn’t cause these things. I truly believe with all my heart that Jesus who died for our sins and took our sickness upon Himself doesn’t make his kids sick. Why this happened, is a million dollar question. But I believe with all my heart He will send you healing and give you peace in the midst of the storm. ❤️❤️❤️

Sandra | Buechernische - March 8, 2014 - 11:52 am

All my best wishes from the deep bottom of my heart to both of you ♥ stay strong and fight!

sue cooley - March 8, 2014 - 4:40 pm

Hi Lidia- I was asked to pray for you all by Melissa. I don’t know her- she is a friend of a friend. But I told her my story so she could encourage you. I had breast cancer in 1996 ( my daughter was 4). I had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. They didn’t get it all out, and 2 years later I got it again in the same breast. Once again chemo. I was then cured – well for 16 years or so. I got bronchitis in 2012 and it would not go away. When I went back to tell dr I wasn’t any better they did a chest xray and found cancer in my right lung. I had a pie shaped piece of my lung taken out, chemo and radiation. Then, last November I was having headaches and they found 3 tumors in my brain. I had full brain radiation- that was rough. I am still fighting that and will know more after the 26th of March. Then I had a lymph node in my neck that was full of cancer- they removed it. I finished my radiation a couple weeks ago and have 2 chemos to go hopefully. I just wanted to encourage you to never lose hope and put your trust fully in Jesus. He has given me many trials, I don’t know why… to make me stronger and come closer to Him I think. He has healed me every time. When my daughter was small I begged Him not to take me and let her have her mommy while she grew up. He answered my prayers. Now I pray that I can stay alive to see her get married someday and see my grandbabies if she should have any. But no matter what happens, He has blessed me us beyond measure. And if He takes me home tomorrow- I know I will be in heaven and in His sweet arms. I just wanted to share this with you and tell you to always have a strong faith and never lose your hope or stop fighting!!! I am praying for you and your family. And I know exactly how you are feeling inside. Cry when you need to. May God bless you and we can all pray that spot away! In Jesus precious name. Amen

Laura - March 8, 2014 - 5:04 pm

Thank you for the update, since Lidia feel sick , there was a not a single day that pass that I do not think about her or Isadora. We never met or spoke but for some very special people in this planet we do not need that in order to feel connected. She is one of them. SO I am very grateful for the updates so I can see where she is at. For now all I ask everyday is that she finds strength to keep going and I know she does and that Isadora continues to be the light she has everyday. I know the energy they have will help things for now. Keeping her in my thoughts everyday and sending her and Isadora the best of my energy so they can have each other for many many years to come!

The ignorance, kill. The 95% of the illnesses, have as origin the nutrition unsuitable. Human beeing is geneitcal programmed by God, for raw vegan nutrition (Genesis 1:29). Thermical prepared food, is junk food, and promote all kind oh strange disorders. The treatement consist from fresh prepared juisses from fruits and vegetables. The fruits do not be eat toghether with vegetables, because they have another type of digestion. Also is very helpfull ,for all kind of disorders, the treatement with “Teslatron”, a device wich was invented by Nicola Tesla. Please read the book Robert Young, Ph.D.”The pH Miracle,Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health”.

MRI Results

photoUpdate on Lidia: The MRI results are in. The MRI confirmed the spot on the bone, and any possibility of this being caused from some sort of trauma to the back was ruled out. The silver lining is that there’s no damage showing at all in the tissue, so whatever this is, it seems to be isolated to the bone. The next step is a bone biopsy, which will tell us if this is cancer and what kind of cancer it is… whether it’s breast cancer metastasized or some other form of bone cancer. The biopsy has not be scheduled yet, so that’s all we know at this time.

Although Lidia is understandably exhausted and scared, she is facing all of this with an incredible strength and presence. This #OhSoPoshSTRONG hashtag trending on instagram has kept her smiling, and we just saw it already passed 500 posts!  Just amazing  :)  Lidia has always shared with me how it’s important to her to use social media for good – to spread positive thoughts and words of encouragement, rather than focusing on the negative. Now it’s such an amazing thing to see social media being used in this way to return that love and inspiration right back to her. Best social media campaign, ever.  ;)

Again if you would like to share any cards or words of encouragement, I’m it would cheer her up to wake up to a room full of color. The address is:

Prayers for Lidia

InstagramHi everyone I’m a friend of Lidia’s, and wanted to share an update since I know so many of you are keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. She’s been is so very appreciative of all the prayers and encouragement she’s received over the last couple of days. She keeps saying she doesn’t know what she did to deserve so many amazing friends and supporters and it’s nice to see her smiling through the tears as she reads the kind words you have all been sharing. Also a huge thanks to Rachel Vanoven for starting the instagram hashtag #ohsoposhstrong … this has seriously given her some light in the midst of this cloudy day.

If you would like to send a card or words of encouragement to Lidia or Isadora, they can be sent to the hospital at this address:

Presbyterian Hospital Plano
Lidia Grigorean

Building C
Plano, TX 75093

Just to give a little history on what she’s been going through recently for those of you who aren’t aware, she’s been struggling with a variety of health issues since last October. Among other things she’s been fighting kidney stone, kidney infection, bronchitis, excruciating back pain & migraines and mysterious bruising all over her body. On Tuesday she went back to the doctor because this latest round of back pain was not lightening up, and they immediately admitted into the hospital to run a series of tests to see if they could find an underlying issue for this string of occurrences. Of course we were just praying for rotten luck.

RVP_3615bw 2

Yesterday afternoon they uncovered that the infection she’s fighting right now is being caused by a C. Diff infection which was likely caused from the antibiotics she was on. C. Diff nearly took her life whens he was pregnant with Isadora, so it was hard to hear that she came down with it again.

PETScanThe next blow of bad news came from the results of her PET scan which showed a significant spot on her lower rib (shown in the photo), right where she’s experiencing the pain. The doctors are concerned because it looks like cancer, so they are doing an MRI on her right now to see if they can get a better look at the bone & tissue to see what all is affected. The next step from here is likely a biopsy to test for cancer. We don’t know if this is breast cancer metastasized or bone cancer. Of course we are all praying that by some miracle this is NOT cancer.

Isadora has been really struggling and missing her mama, and she’s very scared about what might be happening. It doesn’t help that Lidia has to be careful about how many visitors are in the room with the infection she has, and any visitors that can come in need to wear a gown and gloves to be near her. Lidia does not want to mention the scary “C” word to her until they have all the information, but it’s clear that Isadora senses something isn’t good. But even in the middle of this she has been so incredibly sweet, loving and encouraging with Lidia… wise beyond her years just like her mama:)She’s staying at home with her dad, and Lidia’s sister is flying in from Romania this weekend as well to be here with her.

I will keep sharing updates on here to keep everyone informed as we receive results from the ongoing tests. In the meantime I know she appreciates the continued prayers and warm thoughts as she faces the unknown…

God will meet you right where you’re at. I fought the Cdiff 3 times back to back within 6 months time and fought the life threatening kind. I understand the pain and the panic. I believe without a shadow of a doubt that God is going to see you through. My family and I are standing in the gap for you along with everyone else’s prayers. You are so loved. God has Isadora in the palm of His hand, just as He has you. God has not left you. You will walk THROUGH the shadow of death! Do you hear me? YOU WILL WALK THROUGH….remember this…ITS ONLY A SHADOW.

Thank you for the update. I don’t know Lidia personally (only through her website) but I’m sending my prayers. I will also be sending a card and invite others to do the same. In fact, I will pay for the card AND the postage. You see, I am a distributor for a greeting card company. So if you would like to send Lidia a card, please go to http://www.sendoutcards.com and put in username: cards4lidia and password: lidia

I am paying for all the cards and the postage (these are REAL card sent in the mail). The website is fairly easy to navigate but if anyone needs help please contact me at elzingas@gmail.com and I can walk you through the process. You can also add photos to the cards if you wish. March is “pay it forward” month for me and I would love to shower Lidia with cards of encouragement.

Hello Lidia, I’m Cuban living in Canada and I’m following you in Facebook since Isidora was very sick, now I’m reading your struggling history and its a hard breaking. I know that this is not time to think about money but I was thinking to give you a website where you can post your history and ask for donations for any expenses you may have, I know that in the state the health is not free, and also it will help you with any extra expenses your family is having, the name of the name of the fundraising is Gofundme, its free to register and you can spread your words in there, Its very good, I used for my cousin’s cancer treatment, unfortunately she passed away a month ago but the donations we received we will give it to hers children. No sure how much I can help you and I thought this can be one of the ways….prayers and good vibes on your way!!!!

Didi - March 6, 2014 - 5:58 pm

Deesha Lornes - March 6, 2014 - 6:14 pm

To start, I want to say that everyone who knows you, whether in person or through the internet, is praying for you. I am sure of it. You are and have been an inspiration for all of us. And your sweet, sweet daughter has grown up before our very eyes. Praying so hard that she keeps her beautiful Mommy on this earth for a very long time, to watch her marry that man that she is beginning to dream about.

Secondly, I wanted to tell you how you have impacted my life. The first time that I saw a post online from you, was on my newsfeed, as a friend of mine had shared a post of yours. I was in my own deep despair and broken-hearted, as it was around the winter Holidays in 2012 and I had just lost my husband to a very horrible and unexpected accident. The specific post of yours that I saw was the one where you shared a video of the poem, “A finger, two dots, then me.” This video spoke volumes to me about the fact that I would see my husband again someday. It gave me a sense of peace, that I had been unable to find ANYWHERE else. And the fact that you shared it because Isadora loved it was even more precious to me. She seems like such an amazing and wise child.

Last, I just want to tell you that after the video, I checked in on your Facebook often, this is why I say that I feel like we have watched Isadora grow up before our very eyes. I love how your whole life seems to be committed to her. And how she is just as crazy about you. It is beautiful. One of my favorite posts is the picture of her and the Giant Moon. It reminded me again of how you led me to the poem and the peace that it brought. So, in these incredibly difficult times, I would just like to remind you of that poem. And hope that it will again bring peace and reassurance that we will always be connected to those that we love. Trust that everyone is praying hard for you and God will pull you through this once again.

Love and blessings,
Deesha Lornes

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God.
Psalm 107:20 He sent out his word and healed them,
and delivered them from their destruction.(sickness)
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.( <–This is what I stand on)
I am so very sorry.. But I know that God is in the healing business. And I also know that all who believe in Him can and will be healed. Live by faith not by sight. I will be following, and will be praying for the day she announces she is no longer sick…

im praying for her & the family. godspeed hoping for the best. sending her strength & love.God Bless her & the family.

Caroline - March 12, 2014 - 2:08 am

Looking through this post brings it all rushing back. I have that same scar on my back, and traveled down this same path, crippled by pain when the cancer returned in my bones. I truly hope that this is not your path. But, I am here to tell you that, if it is, you WILL fight it again. Your inner strength will once again build up, and fight this beast if it has to. And your darling daughter will be there as a daily reminder of what you are fighting for. It is so hard to look at our children during this fight and process all the “what ifs”, but know that she is resilient. She is full of the same inner strength, and she will be right there waiting with open arms and loving kisses every time you need them. “You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only option.”

Sending you much love and strength. Eff Cancer. ;)

Jessica Perez - March 13, 2014 - 9:58 pm
